Request and use SMS sender IDs

Prepare a sender-name request, submit it for review, provide authorization and use an approved identity in SMS campaigns.

An SMS sender ID identifies your business in an outgoing message. In Momo Business, requesting a sender name, submitting it for review and using an approved sender are separate steps. This guide follows that process so your campaign is ready before you need to send it.

For example, a shop might request ACMESHOP and provide a sample order-collection message that reflects how the name will be used.

Prepare the request

Open Marketing → Sender IDs. You need permission to view sender IDs and manage requests. Have the proposed business name, destination country and a realistic sample SMS ready.

The sender name must contain 3–11 characters using letters, numbers or spaces. Names are stored in uppercase. The sample message is required and can contain up to 500 characters; this request-field limit is separate from the length and billing of a message you eventually send.

Choose a name customers will recognize. Make sure the sample explains the intended use, such as an order update, instead of entering placeholder text.

Create the draft, then submit it for review

  1. Select New request. The request form appears in the Requests tab.
  2. Enter the Sender ID, choose the Country, and write the Sample SMS message. Check the operators shown for the selected country.
  3. Select Submit Request to create the request. Despite the button wording, this first step creates a Draft.
  4. Review the draft in Requests, checking the spelling, country and sample. If a draft is wrong, delete it and create the corrected request.
  5. Select Submit on that draft and confirm Submit this request for review? when prompted. Its status changes to Submitted.

A draft has not entered review. Keep that distinction in mind if the request appears to be waiting without any progress.

Provide authorization documents when needed

Use Blank authorization form, or the document icon on a request to download its pre-filled form, to open the printable authorization document. Complete the relevant business details and follow the review instructions for signing and supplying it.

When a sender entry is available in the Active tab, Upload auth lets you attach its signed authorization; Replace updates an existing attachment. Supported uploads are PDF, JPG or PNG, up to 5 MB. The Authorized link opens the stored document.

Uploading a document does not by itself approve the sender. Return to the request and check its status and any reviewer feedback.

Follow the review outcome

The Requests tab shows overall progress and individual operator results. A request can be processing, completed, partially approved or rejected. Review the operator details when only some networks approve the name; do not assume one approval covers every destination.

Approval timing varies with the review and operator process. If feedback asks for changes, resolve the stated issue before making another request. For a submitted request that needs correction, use the review contact provided rather than assuming it can still be edited as a draft.

Send with the approved identity

Check the sender's actual status, even when it appears under Active. Approved sender IDs can appear in the SMS sender selector in Quick Send and messaging campaigns, subject to your workspace's sending setup and access.

Choose the approved sender and test a short message to a number you control. Check the received sender name, message content and delivery result before preparing a wider audience. Registration itself does not send an SMS.

If the sender is missing from the selector, check approval, the current workspace and your SMS configuration. Do not assume a sender name provides a reply inbox; include suitable contact instructions when customers need to respond.

Continue with SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, or open Sender IDs to review your request.

Prepare a request the reviewer can understand

Use a sample that identifies the business purpose and resembles the messages you intend to send. For example, an order-ready notification should show the business name, the reason for contacting the customer and a useful next step. Avoid unrelated promotional claims in a request intended for service updates.

Keep the requested spelling consistent across the form and supporting business documents. When feedback identifies a mismatch, correct the underlying detail rather than submitting several slightly different names and hoping one is accepted.

Before scheduling a campaign, check approval for the intended country and operators. If only part of the request is approved, plan around the actual available destinations and ask for clarification about the remaining ones. Do not use the label Active as a substitute for reading the status.

After approval, test with controlled numbers on the networks you intend to reach where practical. Record the sender displayed on the handset and the delivery result. Use the SMS delivery guide if registration is complete but sending still fails.
