Cookie Policy

Last updated: March 2026

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Momo Pulse ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website, access our cloud communications platform, or interact with our services. We are committed to transparency about the technologies we use and the data we collect through them.

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and our Terms & Conditions, which provide further detail on how we handle your personal data.

By continuing to use our website and platform after being presented with our cookie notice, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Cookie Policy.

2. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, provide a better user experience, and supply information to the owners of the site.

How Cookies Work

When you visit our website, our web server sends a cookie to your browser. Your browser stores the cookie and sends it back to the server each time you make a subsequent request. This allows our server to identify and remember your device across visits and interactions.

Similar Technologies

In addition to cookies, we may use other similar tracking technologies, including:

  • Local Storage: Data stored in your browser's local storage that persists until explicitly cleared. We use this to store application preferences and session state for the Momo Pulse dashboard.
  • Session Storage: Similar to local storage but automatically cleared when you close your browser tab. Used for temporary application state during your active session.
  • Pixel Tags (Web Beacons): Tiny, invisible images embedded in web pages or emails that allow us to track whether a page has been viewed or an email has been opened.

Throughout this policy, the term "cookies" refers to all of these technologies collectively, unless otherwise specified.

3. Cookies We Use

We categorize the cookies used on our website and platform into four groups based on their purpose. Below is an overview of each category. Detailed descriptions of individual cookies are provided in the sections that follow.

CategoryPurposeRequired
EssentialCore platform functionality, authentication, securityYes
Analytics & PerformanceUsage measurement, performance monitoring, error trackingNo
FunctionalUser preferences, display settings, feature personalizationNo
Marketing & AdvertisingCampaign attribution, retargeting, conversion trackingNo

4. Essential Cookies

These cookies are strictly necessary for the operation of our website and platform. Without them, core features like user authentication, session management, and security protections would not function. Essential cookies cannot be disabled.

Authentication & Session Management

  • Session Cookie: Identifies your authenticated session when you log in to the Momo Pulse dashboard. This cookie is deleted when you log out or close your browser. It ensures you remain logged in as you navigate between pages.
  • CSRF Token Cookie: A Cross-Site Request Forgery prevention token that protects your session from unauthorized actions by third-party websites. A new token is generated for each session and is required for all state-changing requests.
  • Remember Me Cookie: If you choose the "Remember Me" option during login, this encrypted cookie maintains your authenticated session for an extended period (up to 30 days), so you don't need to log in again on the same device.

Security & Infrastructure

  • Rate Limiting Identifier: Used to enforce request rate limits per session and protect the platform against brute-force attacks, credential stuffing, and denial-of-service attempts.
  • Load Balancer Cookie: When our platform is served across multiple infrastructure nodes, this cookie ensures your requests are routed to the same backend server throughout your session, preventing disruptions or data inconsistency.
  • Secure Connection Flag: A flag that ensures all subsequent requests from your browser are sent exclusively over HTTPS, protecting data in transit between your device and our servers.

Cookie Consent

  • Cookie Consent Preferences: Stores your cookie consent choices so that you are not prompted again on subsequent visits. This cookie persists for 12 months and records which cookie categories you have accepted or declined.

5. Analytics & Performance Cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website and platform, allowing us to measure performance, identify errors, and improve the overall user experience. All analytics data is aggregated and anonymized wherever possible.

Website Analytics

  • Page View Tracking: Records which pages you visit, how long you spend on each page, and the sequence of your navigation. This helps us identify the most valuable content and improve site structure.
  • Traffic Source Attribution: Identifies how you arrived at our website (search engine, direct link, referral, social media, or email campaign). This data helps us understand which channels are most effective.
  • Device & Browser Information: Records your device type, screen resolution, browser version, and operating system. We use this to ensure our platform renders correctly across all devices and browsers.

Platform Performance

  • Page Load Timing: Measures how long pages and dashboard components take to load, allowing us to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Error Tracking: Captures JavaScript errors, failed API requests, and unexpected application states so our engineering team can diagnose and fix issues quickly.
  • Feature Usage Metrics: Tracks which platform features are used most frequently and how users navigate through workflows. This informs our product development priorities.

Data Handling

Analytics cookies do not collect personally identifiable information. IP addresses are truncated before storage, and user IDs are pseudonymized. We do not use analytics data to build individual behavioral profiles. All analytics data is retained for a maximum of 26 months before being automatically deleted.

6. Functional Cookies

Functional cookies enable enhanced features and personalization. They are not strictly necessary for the platform to operate, but they significantly improve your experience by remembering your choices and preferences.

  • Display Preferences: Remembers your preferred theme (light/dark mode), dashboard layout, sidebar collapsed state, and table column configurations so that these settings persist across sessions.
  • Language & Region: Stores your preferred language and regional format settings for dates, times, numbers, and currency display. Momo Pulse uses this to present data in formats familiar to you.
  • Notification Settings: Remembers whether you have opted in or out of in-browser push notifications and which notification categories are enabled.
  • Recent Activity Context: Stores your most recently viewed tenants, flows, agents, or phone numbers so the dashboard can quickly surface relevant context when you return.
  • Form State Preservation: Temporarily stores form data (such as draft messages, IVR flow configurations, or campaign settings) so your progress is not lost if you navigate away or your session is interrupted.

7. Marketing & Advertising Cookies

Marketing cookies are used to track visitors across websites and display relevant advertisements. These cookies are only set with your explicit consent and are not required for the platform to function.

Campaign Attribution

  • UTM Parameter Tracking: When you arrive at our website through a marketing campaign, we store the campaign parameters (source, medium, campaign name, content, and term) to measure the effectiveness of our marketing efforts.
  • Conversion Tracking: If you complete a key action (such as registering for a workspace, requesting a demo, or making your first top-up), a conversion event is recorded and associated with the original marketing campaign that brought you to our site.

Retargeting

  • Advertising Platform Pixels: With your consent, we may use pixels from advertising platforms (such as Google Ads, Meta/Facebook, or LinkedIn) to show you relevant Momo Pulse advertisements when you visit other websites. These pixels do not give us access to your accounts on those platforms.
  • Audience Building: We may create anonymized audience segments based on website behavior (e.g., visitors who viewed the pricing page but did not register) to deliver more relevant advertising. No personally identifiable information is shared with advertising partners.

Social Media Widgets

If our website includes social media sharing buttons or embedded content from social platforms, those platforms may set their own cookies. We do not control the cookies set by third-party social media platforms. Please refer to the relevant platform's cookie policy for more information.

8. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on our website are placed by third-party services that we use to enhance functionality, measure performance, or support marketing. These third parties have their own privacy and cookie policies, and we encourage you to review them.

We conduct regular reviews of third-party cookies present on our platform and update this policy accordingly. If a new third-party service is introduced that sets cookies, this policy will be updated to reflect the change.

Cookies have different lifespans depending on their type and purpose:

Session Cookies

Session cookies are temporary and are deleted from your device when you close your browser. They are primarily used for authentication and maintaining your active session state while you use the platform.

Persistent Cookies

Persistent cookies remain on your device for a specified period or until you manually delete them. The retention periods for our persistent cookies are as follows:

  • Cookie Consent Preferences: 12 months
  • Remember Me Authentication: Up to 30 days
  • Display & UI Preferences: 12 months
  • Analytics Cookies: Up to 26 months (depending on the provider)
  • Marketing Cookies: Up to 12 months (depending on the provider)
  • Campaign Attribution: 90 days

We periodically review cookie retention periods and reduce them where possible to minimize the amount of data stored on your device.

10. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You have several options for controlling and managing cookies on your device:

Cookie Consent Banner

When you first visit our website, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner that allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookie categories. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in the website footer.

Browser Settings

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically configure your browser to:

  • Block all cookies (note: this may prevent you from logging in to the Momo Pulse platform)
  • Block only third-party cookies
  • Delete all cookies when you close the browser
  • Receive a notification before a cookie is set
  • Selectively delete specific cookies

Please note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from using authenticated features of the Momo Pulse platform. If you block analytics or functional cookies, some features may not work as expected.

Browser-Specific Instructions

To manage cookies in your browser, consult your browser's help documentation. Settings are typically found under "Privacy", "Security", or "Cookies" in your browser preferences.

Opt-Out of Analytics

If you wish to opt out of Google Analytics tracking specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on, which prevents Google Analytics JavaScript from sharing information about your visit.

Do Not Track (DNT)

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal to websites. While there is no universal standard for how websites should respond to this signal, we respect DNT signals by disabling non-essential analytics and marketing cookies when a DNT header is detected.

Under applicable data protection laws, including the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) of Tanzania, we are required to obtain your consent before setting non-essential cookies on your device.

How We Obtain Consent

  • When you first visit our website, a clear and prominent cookie consent banner is displayed.
  • The banner provides a brief description of each cookie category and allows you to accept or decline them individually.
  • Essential cookies do not require consent as they are necessary for the platform to function.
  • No non-essential cookies are set until you have made an active choice.

Withdrawing Consent

You may withdraw your consent at any time by:

  • Clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in the website footer to update your preferences.
  • Clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site, which will trigger the consent banner again.
  • Contacting us at legal@momopulse.com to request that your cookie preferences be reset.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before your withdrawal. Once consent is withdrawn, the relevant cookies will not be set on subsequent page loads, though existing cookies may remain on your device until they expire or you delete them manually.

12. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, our business operations, or our use of cookies. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.
  • Display a notice on our website informing you of the changes.
  • Re-trigger the cookie consent banner if new cookie categories or third-party providers are introduced.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
